About the theory test
The Driver Theory Test is a computer-based test that you must pass before applying for your first learner permit. The test ensures that you understand the rules of the road and have the theoretical knowledge needed to be a safe driver.

County Wicklow has its own theory test centre in Wicklow town, and Dún Laoghaire has one as well — the centre there is listed as Dublin South, inside the Dún Laoghaire Shopping Centre. Book whichever of the two is easier for you to get to.
After you pass
Once you pass the Theory Test, you can apply for your learner permit. Your Theory Test Certificate is valid for 2 years from the date you pass the test.
